How to look polished without make-up
Posted on: 30 September 2016
Wearing make-up is a quick and effective way to look polished and chic. However, the process of applying and removing so many products each day can be both time consuming and inconvenient. Here are a few ways you can look your best without having to rely on cosmetics.
Keep your skin in good condition
Foundation is often touted as many women's favourite make-up product. The reason for this is simple; a clear, smooth and even-toned complexion instantly makes you look healthier, younger and more radiant. Very few other cosmetic items have such a dramatic effect.
As such, if you're looking for ways to look great without make-up, it's a good idea to begin taking better care of your skin. Rather than masking your problem areas with foundation, consider addressing the underlying conditions which are causing these issues.
If you've suffered from acne in the past for example, and you're now left with a lot of scarring and hyper-pigmentation, you may benefit from a course of laser resurfacing sessions. This technology can stimulate the production of collagen and thus help to heal damaged skin.
If you're more concerned about reducing the signs of aging, then regular chemical peels may be a good option; these are usually done using glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid and can help to reduce fine lines and improve uneven skin texture.
Get your teeth whitened
Lipstick, gloss and lip-liner can create a beautiful-looking smile; however, they tend to fade very quickly and usually need to be re-applied several times throughout the day.
If you want a dazzling smile without having to constantly re-apply various types of lip products, then consider booking an appointment at a cosmetic dentistry practice in your town or city. If your teeth are chipped, severely stained or uneven, then the dentist may advise you to have veneers fitted. However, in many instances, a couple of simple teeth-whitening treatments are often enough to noticeably enhance the appearance of a person's teeth.
It's worth noting that although there are lots of at-home whitening gels and toothpastes available nowadays that can provide subtle improvements, these products rarely, if ever, produce the kind of dramatic results that a cosmetic dentist can deliver. This is because dentists are able to use much higher concentrations of whitening solutions than those found in shop-bought dental products. As such, if you're determined to have a beautiful smile, it's best to have this treatment carried out by a professional.
