How to Eliminate Bad Breath Completely

Posted on: 1 February 2018

Bad breath is medically known as halitosis. While some people deal with the embarrassing problem for a short time, there are others who have serious bad breath which persists even after brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash. The challenging thing about people who have bad breath is that not every person with bad breath knows that they do. If you suspect you might be having this problem, you can simply take the bad breath meter test which measures the amount of sulphides in your breath to establish how terrible your bad breath problem is. Here are a few ways you can permanently deal with bad breath.

Brush after each meal

Bad breath is caused by an accumulation of bacteria in the mouth. The accumulation becomes worse when you start slacking off on brushing your teeth and flossing regularly. Brush your teeth well after all your meals, and when you have to travel for work, carry a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Cleaning the tongue

As you brush your teeth, ensure you also clean your tongue. Most of the mouth bacteria really like hiding at the top of the tongue and the back of the mouth. When the tongue is not cleaned and the food particles are left on the tongue, bacteria start acting on it, leading to bad breath. When you are not able to brush your teeth and tongue after eating, swirl some water around the mouth after eating.

Minding your diet

There are a number of ways that your diet can affect your breath. People who eat food which is low in carbohydrates to try and lose weight end up with bad breath. This is because the body is forced to release ketones, which naturally have a foul smell. You should eat more of clean and fresh foods such as fruit and vegetable salads to clean the teeth. Foods high in antioxidants also improve your overall health, including your dental health. Herbs such as cardamoms and mint also help promote fresh breath. Increase the amount of water that you drink daily because poor water intake also leads to bad breath.

Those are a few natural tips which can help you deal with persistent bad breath. If these tips do not work, it is possible that you have dental caries or tooth decay and gum disease. In this case, it would be best to visit a dentist and have the condition diagnosed and treated. After the treatment of the underlying cause, the bad breath will disappear eventually.
